Good stuff. I got a mix of bannana and Acai/Pom. I am no Fro Yo Pro but this place definitely gets my vote.
Location is in the middle of everything they have outside seating with shade to cover your froyo. Not the greatest to just sit amongst the traffic and cars but it works.
I haven't had the original flavor, but their flavored frozen yogurt is icy and tart just the way I like it! It is also a bit cheaper than Pinkberry. I never had problems finding parking here and there's enough room in this place to grab a seat and gossip with your friends =)
This was one of those dessert before dinner kinda nights. After friends getting out of work late and traffic delays, we arrived in Hollywood to subdue belly roll reducing hunger pains. Cantaloop's orange awning and neon green fence is a familiar landmark by now, signifying the NE corner of La Brea and Hollywood.
Not knowing where fate would take us that night, we popped into the nearly empty parking lot for a pre-dinner blood sugar spike. The interior is decorated only slightly more low key than the outside with brightly colored walls and a half dozen plastic modern high stools against a skinny white counter. The inside was rather hot and sticky that evening-all the better for me as I didn't welcome the thought of precariously balancing my hindquarters into a delicate teetering seat. Instead we scored a smurf sized table outside with a gang of clear colored plastic barbie chairs.
The staff was polite and upbeat, half dancing to white boy rock tunes, careful to fast forward the CD when a hip hop number came on. The flavor selection was as follows: plain, banana, mango, and blueberry. The topping selections were on the better side of totally lacking, or in other words, what I've come to expect from a cliche froyo spot. They stock the usual suspects in the dry cereals and somewhat freshly cut fruit.
Now, I'm of the opinion that frozen yogurt should be able to handle it's own. Like your kid sister out on the playground it should come out swinging and smack my tastebuds like the soon-to-be bloody noses of those punk name-calling half-pints. If toppings are required to enhance(or cover up the lack of) the flavor, that's as good as having to call on friends for ass-kicking back up which can only mean one thing: loss of street cred.
The blueberry yogurt was at best a very icey, bland, pastel purple swirl. The mango trumped it's bowl-sharing partner in this regard, but ever so slightly. The small sprinkling of toppings did little to enhance the flavor. If I was relying on these friends for backup, I'd totally have a broken arm and a pencil up my nose by now.
Still, the patio was empty and a decent place for a conversation had we not the consumption of tastier vittles on our minds. And so we half ass finished most of our bowls out of respect to starving children across the world and bounced.

I'll take my fellow yelpers at their word, but I can't shake the feeling that many of these glowing reviews are just being contrarian, part of the Pinkberry backlash. I'm no great defender of Pinkberry, but I don't see the special attraction here. It may be limited to this location, but Cantaloop has major QC issues. Their yogurt is icy, the sign of a cheap machine and/or untrained employees. It happens when its temperature fluctuates above the freezing point and it re-freezes unevenly, it was so bad that I had actual ice chunks. When served, it isn't cold enough and melts very quickly. Their strawberries are cold - too cold in fact, several were frozen solid. They're also letting the place get a little dirty.

Turns out Mr. VC just recently acquired the Cantaloop and because I had the yogurt before the acquisition, I was invited to try their improved product at their new location on Main Street Culver City. That's a separate review.
In addition to my original one star for this review, I'll add...
One more for good business sense in contacting yelp reviewers
One more for conscientiousness about improvement of product

Yummy!! It was a hot day in Hollywood and just coming from traffic court in L.A. (ugh, don't remind me), this was a way to "wind-down" prior to my trek on the 101 on home to the boonies.
I chose the double (?) loop of mango. Man, it was so refreshing as the temperature was in the high 90s and this completely helped me cool down. The mango tasted just that, it wasn't too tart, or overly diabetic coma sweet. Just right. Like others have stated, it's not cheap, but overall, I would say, quite good/decent for what it is. Now, will I go insane and buy fro-yo all the time? No, but I will make sure to make a stop here if I'm in the area.
This store is located in a really small shopping center, not too far from the hustle and bustle of Hollywood Blvd. Be prepared to look for parking numerous times, as it's the worst!! The lot looks like it's made to only park smart cars, so, if you find a spot, you're lucky. Parking is a crap shoot.

Getting tired of seeing a damn Pinkberry on every corner and realizing they are the Starbuck's of frozen yogurt?? If you want something truly local, truly delicious, and truly chill, hit Cantaloop.
No huge lines, no evil eye if you dare to get less than three toppings (unlike Pinkberry, they will fill it to the brim with just one if that's what you want!), and no funky aftertaste...oh, yeah, and I'm pretty sure they're cheaper too. Either way, you don't have to feel like you're selling your soul for frozen yumminess...doesn't get better than that in an LA heat wave!
A "single loop" (small) of half regular "swirled" with half banana flavored yogurt + Captain Crunch topping came out to about $4. Definitely not cheap, but the yogurt guy was generous with the portions, and left no hole in the center of the bowl like the one mentioned in some of the other reviews.
There are four flavors (plain, blueberry, banana, and mango). I guess mango replaced pomegranate. The yogurt is very mild in flavor and tends more towards the sweet side than the tart. Would be good for someone who finds Pinkberry's original to be too sour.
Service was a bit slow.

It was a scorcher of a Los Angeles day. I was finally begining to understand why the Wicked Witch was screeching in her final moments. I NEEDED salvation. I NEEDED frozen yogurt.
I often passed Cantaloop on my route and always made a mental note to check it out. This day seemed like the perfect opportunity to scratch it off my 'to-do" list.
When I entered I was greeted by a very friendly young woman who indulged me as I stood with my mouth agape in wonder of all their amazing options. She even offered me a sample of the banana flavored yogurt when I lusted aloud over it. Mmmm....But what sold me on this place was the fact that they have lychees as a topping option. STOP it ! I went for the strawberry/mango/lychee combo and was in bliss with every splendid spoonful. Stingy with the tops they are not.
Mission Cool Down accomplished.
Moderately priced, delicious, and with MANY options to choose from, Cantaloop has successfully wooed me away from Pinkberry. Great job!
I have come to the conclusion that Kyle Minogue was not singing about a stellar male speciman with her obnoxiously catchy ditty "Can't Get You Out of My Head." While Cantaloop wasn't exactly open when her song was a hit, and she does reference a "boy" in the song, I am still fairly certain that she had Cantaloop's tart blueberry, pomegranite, banana and other yogurt flavors in mind when she sang, "Your loving is all I think about."
I have never been one to harbor serious addictions. Yes, I drink exorbitant amounts of tea, stock dark chocolate in my desk drawer and cabinets like I am preparing for the big earthquake, and pine for unavailable men who will never love me back, but I've never had a true addiction. Nothing cool or trendy or worthy of a stint in the Wonderland Rehab Clinic. It's really unfair. I could use a weekend away at the spa! Fortunately, after ingesting my small blueberry/pomegranite small yogurt with mochi and strawberries ($4.60) on Saturday, I finally may have found an addiction worth living for.
The combination of the tart, FLAVORED yogurt with the sweet strawberries, and marshmallow-like mochi was a thing of miracles. My dear friend, in town from Philly, could not stop raving about her banana one (also with strawberries and mochi), and we both finished our hefty portions with the gusto of small children at an old fashioned ice cream parlour. It was bliss. As was the stellar service by the most lovely lady who gave excellent suggestions, and even steered me away from the raspberries (a bit "tart" at the moment). She loaded our cups up witih yogurt and toppings -- no measuring or weighing here my friends! And there is a "People Love Us on Yelp" sticker in the window! I'm thinking of bringing her a new sticker that reads, "Diana H. Loves Us on Yelp, on a Train, in a Car, in a Plane, and Sometimes in Rehab."

My fro yo tour continues!
Maybe I am just a crazy fool or maybe I just want to have more fro yo reviews than Kira B. Whatever the reason is, I'm a few cards short of a full deck when I'm hitting these places in cold weather.
I never realized that Cantaloop was very close to the touristy spot of Hollywood and Highland until by chance in that my friend didn't want to go to Cefiore. She insisted in that there are some blueberry and pomegranate flavor. That was a line, hook, and sink for me right there. It didn't take long for me to be reeled in to that place.
This particular location is hidden a corner that was not very noticeable or stand out. I honestly had to peek inside to make sure it was a yogurt joint. They have a few high stools at their counter. The big exciting news was that 4 new locations would be opening very shortly.
Besides the two above mentioned flavor, they also have the natural (which I think was a plain) and mango flavor. When I got in that time, they ran out of the pomegranate flavor, but do have the other three choices. What got me in was the blueberry flavor, so I took that with toppings of moichi and kiwi.
The guy was nice enough to inform me of the pomegranate flavor being unavailable for the night. He also offered me a take out bag and a lid for the take out yogurt. So service was actually very friendly to deal with.
The music playing at the place reflects the taste of the staff. It really show that night when I had to listen to a few toady's hits. It also reflect on how old I really am. *sigh*
The texture was more smoother and creamier than Cefiore. It's definitely not watery like Yogurtland and was a bit more tart than the two mentioned yogurt joints. There were no hole in the center. (then again, my experience with Pinkberry also did not include a hole in the center either).
I had to honestly say that I really enjoyed the yogurt at this place very much. Probably right behind Pinkberry and Golden Spoon, but ahead of the other "berry" and "berri".
Just like Golden Spoon, the yogurt have a cool looking twirl that goes up. With the addition of blueberry and the lacking of green tea help distinguished the place from all of other knockoffs of PB. That was my big gripe on the pretenders was that it really just a copycat.
With Cantaloop, I would have to tip off the hat to them for trying to be more nutritious on their yogurt against their competitor. They seemed to want to offer a lower sugar and calories serving than the other frozen yogurt. That is a big plus in my book.
I will have to come back and check out the pomegranate flavor and the lychee toppings that was displayed in their menu.
Overall, the yogurt was more to my likings than majority of the wannabes of the popular success story of 2006 and 2007. I just wish more places take more different approach like this place because it would pay off.
I definitely will see myself coming here more often.

Excellent froyo with fun flavor choices. I am not that good at distinguishing between sour froyos, but I do know that this place had a patio with lounge chairs that was the bomb.
This frozen yogurt is sooo much better tasting than Pink Berry! What is the big deal about fake tasting Pink Berry? if folks only knew how much better Cantaloop is PB would be out of business. It's natural, it's delicious and yes the staff is helpful and friendly. The portions are huge my only complaint is there isn't one popping up on every corner. The location is too out of the way for me so I don't get to go as much as I would like.
My kids love it too. Mango flavor is our favorite.
I don't understand why the ratings of this place are so high! The first page of reviews that are visible have some really low ratings, I don't know how it averages up to 4.5 stars.
The flavor is pretty much non-existant. The only good part about this place is that they have some more "exotic" toppings, I think we might have had lychee? There's a tiny little parking lot up front but it might be hard to get to if you're not on Hollywood Blvd heading west.
Bottom line: Not worth it. I think CeFiore tastes way better and it's just down the street.
ETA: You guys are on crack, this is so not a funny review!

I mean...yes...the price is cheaper but damn it better be cheaper for the huge cavity in the middle of their froyo. The flavor is good but I was surprised by the HUGE Cantaloop hole in the center. If you guys know...I hate those stupid Pinkberry holes as I'm sure many of you do. I tried a sample of their Pomegranate flavor which was good but not as good Ce Fiore's. It was good but I won't be coming back unless I'm in the area...damn those holes~!!

Unfortunately, I have to give this place a tw0 star for the fro-yo taste but overall a three star simply because the interior was nice and they did have a mass topping selection. I mean, they were quite generous with proportions and didn't have that big loophole in middle like cefiore. It really didn't taste nasty, but just not the fro-yo craze taste that I was after. The overall ambiance was clean and well arrange. Parking was easy and there were no fees. There's a nice outdoor area for you to chill with your friends and a good enough amount of chairs to sit in the inside.
I decide to come to this place due to the high ratings here and took 2 friends along too. Sadly I've disappointed both them and myself. Took us like 20 plus minutes to get there on freeway too. Sighs.
The pro is that they do have a huge array of flavors which they rotate weekly. Pretty good business tactic huh? So if you miss a flavor, you would have to wait awhile before getting the chance to try it again. The special they had when I went was banana. To me, what really distinguishes the new fro-yo craze from the traditional typical ice cream and past frozen yogurt is their distinctive tarty and non icy taste. It's the flavor where you taste the yogurt in it, yet it's not too sweet but with a lil kick of sourness to it.
I absolutely fell in love with pink-berry but found that other knockoffs like cefiore or kiwiberri did quite a comparable job as far as taste wise. Pinkberry is usually pack with people from where I live around and a bit pricey when compared in quantity But man this place was a total disappointment. Lets just say that if you're looking for that tarty, non icy taste fro-yo, you're for sure not going to find it here. It's a bit rundown and watery in comparison to other fro-yo chain stores. I sampled 4 flavor they had that night and didn't like any. Besides the poor yogurt taste to my definition, overall it was a nice put together place with lots of topping. Price wise was just like any other fro-y0 chain stores out there.

FROYO FIGHT NIGHT
History is filled with rivalries...Hatfield vs. McCoy, Capulet vs. Montague...and now Pinkberry vs. Cantaloop.
It was a close fight, so let's go to the judges' scorecards:
Flavor: Tie
Cantaloop's original isn't as good as Pinkberry's, but the Mango, Blueberry, & Pomegranate are very good.
Texture: Pinkberry
I found Cantaloop too firm and (I know this sounds crazy but...) too cold which actually muted the flavors for me on my numb tongue and forced me to take a break to avoid a brain-freeze. Pinkberry has a smoother, more airy feel to it.
Portion: Cantaloop
Sometimes I get this hole in the middle of my Pinkberry swirl which leaves me feeling ripped off. No problem at Cantaloop with their generous portions.
Experience: Cantaloop
No line out the door, friendly staff, an efficient store layout, and no retarded sign banning you from taking pictures.
Je Ne Sais Quoi: Pinkberry
(I don't know what it is..maybe because when I go into Pinkberry I feel like I'm living inside of an iPod...)
And the winner by decision is....
CANTALOOP
but it was so close...I'd better go again tomorrow to judge the rematch :)

My favorite yogurt spot in LA!
The pomegranate yogurt is my fav, and the original flavor is way better than pinkberrys!
The best part is that it's a two minute walk from where I live and if I don't feel like walking, parking isn't an issue!

So...the girl behind the counter started naming off special flavors beginning with pomegranate. I told her, "you had me at pomegranate." It was all right. I figured the flavor should be enough where I wouldn't need any toppings so I didn't get any. The single serving is pretty generous too.
But...it's still just another finely slushed yogurt-tasting pomegranate water. Definitely a step above the incredibly overrated Pinkberry however. Seriously, the $1 frozen yogurt at IKEA is still my favorite. Shouldn't all dairy treats taste creamy and not slushy?

So after eyeing this place for awhile, my friend and I trekked over to Cantaloop and we were pleased with the impeccable service and the simplicity of the ordering process. They only accept cash but that's ok because I carry cash all the time. In addition, when you order, you can choose 1-3 different sizes but they call them swirls in which they mix flavors for you or do half and half. Great idea for people who want to sample many flavors at once. The toppings were fresh and the best part, the staff! The staff was incredibly helpful and started conversations with us. I had found out, both of the workers there were from San Bruno and San Jose which made me feel good inside. They were not the normal blonde hair girl I normally see working at froyo joints but it was nice to see people who I can relate to who were extremely friendly. Might I add, the plain tart and mango were both delicious!

After having read all the glowing reviews I was PUMPED to get some of that yummy pomagranite froyo. So i walk up to the counter and announce, "I'll take a Single Loop of your famous pomagranite yogurt w/ a topping of fresh lychee and granola."
The really nice clerk says, "I'm so sorry we don't have pomagranite today. There was a problem with our distributor......(blah, blah, blah)."
DOH!!! Needless to say, didn't hear anything more after that.

The Nitty Girtty:
Cantaloop is located on the corner of Hollywood Blvd & La Brea, and is another Fro-Yo joint in the same vein as Pinkberry et al., which have been popping up all over LA like acne on a horny middle schooler's face. Although one can expect that at some point the current Fro-Yo pimple craze will pop, we may as well enjoy it while it lasts.
Out of all the yogurt spots I've hit up, Cantaloop is by far my favorite. Not only is it right next to my work and about 1 mile from my house, but I also get a 10% discount for working at my job, as both LegalZoom and Cantaloop share a common owner. I've also noticed folks bringing in 20% coupons that look like they're from LA Magazine or something of that nature. The staff is also very friendly and prompt.
Anyways, now onto the actual product. Cantaloop currently features four different flavors of yogurt; mango, blueberry, pomegranite (sp? wtf), and plain. They have a wide variety of fresh fruit toppings including all the usual suspects (melons, berries, etc) as well as more exotic choices like lychee or golden raspberries. If you're not into fruit you can also find typical cereal toppings etc.
My order is generally a single mango/mango. I have never ordered any other yogurt flavors simply because there is no need, the mango yogurt is THAT effin good. I'm basically married to it at this point and really have no desire to stray outside the relationship. I know that mango is the best and what I love in my heart. Now don't get me wrong, I'll look at other flavors, thats just part of being a guy, but I won't touch. I go with the mango topping (I like my mangos like I like my [edit ;)] woman; sweet, juicy, fresh, & on top!!!) although sometimes I'll flip the script and go with raspberries, blackberries, or mochi.
Although some may feel the mango/mango combo is redundent, over the top, or just plain silly I strongly disagree and encourage you to give it a try and let the mango-y goodness burst all over your tastebuds and mouth (pause).
Downsides:
The parking lot for the strip mall in which Cantaloop is located is small, often crowded, and can be tough to manuever. Also, I'm not really a big fan of the furniture (not comfortable at all) or decor. Fruit isn't always as ripe/fresh as it should be. I already told you how I like it.
Final Thoughts:
The last time I went (Sun.) was w/ an uber date I met at the Yelp Lola's event. The count had gone to 0-2, two out, bottom of the ninth on my chances AND I made her walk a freakin country mile from my house to the Loop and she was hot/tired/not happy. Cantaloop's mango yogurt saved the day. She loved it. It turned things around and I was able to shake off the poor start and come back to win the game. For this I will forever be indebtted, and will continue to show my appreciation and loyalty in my patronage to this place.

Got here at 10:57pm on a Friday nite when they were just about to close the door. Nevertheless, they let me in and didn't rush me as I sampled all their flavors. Finally decided on Mango (which tastes more like peach) with mochi. The texture is a little icier/slushier than I though it would be, but still good! The portions are huge too! I tried Cantaloop last week... The plain was OK -- kinda reminded me of an icier and nuttier version of Pinkberry. The flavored yogurt was decent, but I felt like I was eating sorbet. I'm going to stick with Pinkberry for this type of yogurt (or frozen dessert, as they call it!).

If there was a froyo street fight between Pinkberry and Cantaloop, the Loop would win by a KO.
I had been so insistent about not going to any Pinkberry imitators for so long but after reading the reviews for Cantaloop on Yelp, I finally took the plunge. Now I have a reason to make the long trek out to Hollywood! Let me tell you, it's a big effort to drive out to Hollywood from the Westside.
I went to Cantaloop thinking that it would pale in comparison to PB. I was totally wrong. First of all, the service staff were very friendly. They offered samples of all three flavors: Blueberry, Mango, and Plain. They get 5 stars just for the stellar service. Secondly, Cantaloop has more toppings than PB offers, such as lychee, granola, dried fruit, and other healthy options. Thirdly, the staff at Cantaloop didn't act like the topping Nazi (excuse the term) police like the staff at PB do. They piled on the toppings I chose, as opposed to carefully measuring the exact amount of topping like they do at PB. Various times, I've seen PB staff get berated by their superiors for providing me with "extra" topping, even as I am standing there. How rude is that? Finally, the froyo is cheaper and more plentiful than PB. My favorite is the blueberry flavor.
I should have tried it sooner!
**Update: Went to Cantaloop (again) after watching Transformers at the Arclight. My new favorite flavor is now Pomogranate The owners are very appreciative to their Yelp reviewers. It's nice getting feedback from business owners about our reviews.

As far as "healthful" fro-yo goes, Cantaloop ain't too shabby. You got your 'gurt, your plentiful array of fruit or sugar-coated crap, and you're golden. They were out of original ("natural," they call it, which leads me to wonder about the other flavors) when I was there, so the counter chick gave me samples of mango and pomegranate, both large enough that I would have been happy and full without ordering a full size. But I went with the mango, which I topped off with strawberries and chocolate chips, and was quite pleased.
I'm just happy the owners didn't go for another "-berry" knockoff. Had they done that, I would have run for the hills. In the past week alone, I have spotted:
Kiwiberri
Yogurberry
Snowberry
Fakeassberry
RanOutOfNamesBerry
LameBerry
I would have given "Cantaloop" four stars just for avoiding the trapberry.
