I used LegalZoom to form my corporation.  I am so excited to start my own clothing company, but was scared to deal with all the legal stuff.  A friend of mine told me about LegalZoom.com and so I went  online to check them out.  It took me a while to get comfortable and after calling them like 10 times I finally ordered!

Their customer service is outstanding.  I really felt like they cared about me.

I received my corporation package in the mail and everything was in order when I took it all to me bank to open an account.  The banking lady told me that she get TONS of corporations formed from LegalZoom and it made me feel like I made the right choice.

I would use them again for other legal stuff and recommend them to all of my friends.

Since I DO NOT work for Legal Zoom, I figured I'd give it a "real" customer review.

I've used Legal Zoom to file several DBAs, and in the future will use them to Incorporate my business.

I never hesitate to recommend their services. Their online system makes it incredibly easy to make most legal decisions, they take all the stress out of filing the paper work, and their excellent customer service is there to guide you just in case you have some questions along the way.

Best of all, their prices are amazing. (You will save considerable time and money when filing a DBA; Legal Zoom's total cost is less than what it would cost you to file your Fictitious Name Statement alone.)

The only reason I am giving it four stars: anyone using Legal Zoom--or making any legal/business decision--should do some of their own leg work beforehand. Quite simply, informed customers make better decisions.

If you're legalizing a business, I'd use Nolo Books to learn the basics, (probably talk to an accountant about tax benefits, etc.) then go to Legal Zoom once you know what you need.

Unbelievable customer service! I just incorporated my business and they helped me every step of the way... I think it's nothing short of a revolution in the field of law.

I've worked at LZ in the past as a contract employee and as a full time employee. Ive worked from production to some customer service. So I've seen how the orders are produce to how customers are handled. I believe this company will change how the legal industry works for the better.  If you know exactly what you want and how you want it, then I recommend their services.  However I do not recommend this if you do not know what EXACTLY you want.  If you're not sure on how to handle your legal matters, please seek legal counsel.  Last thing you want to do throw out a couple hundred bucks for documents then end up paying a lawyer a couple grand to fix.  You could ask an attorney for some simple advice then use LZ to produce your documents.  There are plenty of law firms that use LZ for documents then stick you with a hefty fee. Remember, LZ is not a law firm, so they are not allowed provide legal advice.  Bottom-line, if you are going to use LZ, please educate yourself first or you will feel a world of pain.

My concerns with the company are not necessarily the products itself, but how the  business team runs the company:
1) UPL, if you dont know what that is, google it.  Majority of employees have zero legal background or any legal training including the management.  Past reviewers praise customer service for helping them on each step... that crosses the line of UPL most of the time.
2) Products are not up to date. They work on the premise of "if no one complains, then we will keep producing it".  I've knowingly sent out products with missing documents because it was LZ's policy.
3) Management wants to maximize profits.  They are willing to let you screw up your order so they can charge you first then force you to contact them to correct your order.  Employees work on a quota system.
4) Not all products/documents were created equal.  Some products are not reviewed/created by attorneys.  Some products are very refined while others make LZ look like a two bit operation.
5) ZERO protection of your personal info. Your personal info just gets tossed into a pile at the end of the day and not destroyed.   Everyone in the company has access to your CC.  Im just waiting for someone to get their ID stolen.
6) Some work are outsourced to India via an unsecured system.  Indian-side contractors have a "looser" quality control standard.

LZ was an awesome place when i started a few years back.  Everyone cared about providing a better product.  As the new management team moved in the last year and half, the vision of providing a quality product disappeared.  The founders had truly had something innovative when they conceived LZ.  However their decision to hire the Harvard bigwigs to run their company will destroy the principles and ethics you would expect from a company in the legal industry.  I suspect that managment is willing to boost its profits (so LZ appears to be a financially viable business) so LZ could be bought out by another company. LZ can provide an affordable option to your legal needs. However, there are the risks.

I was all set to use legalzoom based on the reviews (even though most of them from people who work there) but I just tried to goto their site and it's down.  I quadruple checked that I'm typing it right and my wife tried from her computer too.  Then I had my dad check from another state, still down.  I realize there are problems but when you're an online company(which I have experience with) you do not let this happen.  At the very least you have a backup server which says "oops, sorry we're have difficulties. All I see is "Firefox can't find the server at www.legalzoom.com.";  I don't have a lot of time so I'm gonna look for a competitor.

For my 200th review (Woot! Woot!), I thought I'd write about something a little closer to home - the company I work for. No, there is no gun to my head, much less some commission or bonus check waiting to be signed to my name. In fact, what I actually do here is not always fun and I will spare you from the boring details. However, you should know that a big reason why I've stayed here is because I truly believe in the company, and the great service we provide.

The purpose of LegalZoom is to provide assistance with various legal documents to people who can't, or don't want to, afford lawyers. From my experience, this applies to almost everyone. So if you have a really great invention in mind (for a patent), or wrote an inspiring song or revolutionary book (for a copyright), we can help get the ball rolling to protect your intellectual property. Then again, maybe you want to incorporate your new Corporation / LLC, or have been thinking about putting together a will to ensure the future of your family. We can help with a lot of these things, and won't charge you an arm and leg to do so.

The caveat? We aren't attorneys, so we can't tell you what to do. However, I've often seen the company bend over backwards to help explain the normally confusing laws and requirements to the slowest minds to ensure that their documents are properly filed. I've also seen how many lives have been positively changed because of my company, and the dreams that we have enabled people to pursue.

Some things to note:

- We are not a non-profit service. We do make some money off of you, although I believe it is quite insignificant considering the rates lawyers generally charge (did you know that some will charge you for the paper used?). And trust me, I am not driving around in the Lamborghini Murcielago I often fantasize about. Far from it.

- We are not perfect, and neither are you. So if you happen to forget the "g" in your name and your documents come back referring to you as "Anus," don't take it personally. Even if you really are an a-hole, we won't call you one [to your face]. Also, these mistakes can usually be rectified 99.99% of the time and we have a pretty awesome satisfaction guarantee policy.

- Though not completely comprehensive, we do have a pretty good listing of different legal services (Trademarks, DBAs, Non-Profits, Living Wills, Power of Attorney...), and this list is still growing. If only I can say the same about my paycheck.

- Once again, we are not lawyers. Because of the current laws, we are unable to provide you any legal advice. This can be a fairly hands-on experience; don't think you can give us all of your information, and we'll somehow read your mind and do everything for you. Therefore this may not be for you if you are in a complicated legal situation, or are too retarded and lazy to comprehend the information we provide in order for you to make the best decision. In other words, don't screw yourself over for not doing your homework.

I can go on and on forever, but I'm spent and you should just really check out the website. Oh yeah, also being an online company, you don't need to walk into our office for anything. In fact, please don't unless you want to catch me in my bunny slippers and robe. Okay, not really but you get the point.

Like 3 of the 4 yelpers currently residing on this page, I too work at LegalZoom, or as we like to say in-house, LZ. Working here has reformed my view of office life, and like Anh, no guns being held here. I like what I do, who I work for, and I really believe and know our product helps people, so there's unfortunately for you cynics out there no sit-com waiting to happen.

And how do we at LegalZoom help people? By providing reasonably priced (practically free if you're us comparing to lawyer's fees) legal documents for an array of services. You can complete a will (one of those things all of us - that's right I'm talking to you -  should do but don't), form that corporation or LLC you've always tinkered with in the back of your mind, or protect that next big invention with a provisional patent. Just fill out our simple online questionnaire (complete with help text and customer service just a phone call away), and you'll receive your legal document ready to go. It really is just that simple!

I've been working here since before yelp was even a twinkle in its mother's eye, and having worked in nearly every department, I can testify to the quality of our product and our commitment to customers across the board. The company has grown but thankfully kept its hometown feel. In short, I love this place, and they may carry me out of here in a pinebox - not that pineboxes are in use any more, but you get what I'm saying. Thankfully, I already have my will ready!

Finally, a service that helps you spend LESS time with the lawyers.  How someone didn't think of this years ago is beyond me.

There are still plenty of things you should consult an actual attorney for -- but for the stuff like trademarks and incorporating, I've found LegalZoom to be a great option.

We have all been there, whether it's fighting with a landlord, taking someone to small claims court, filing a new Incorporation/ LLC, simply getting your Last Will, or getting a Divorce - they all cost time and money.

LegalZoom changes how you get legal matters solved! LegalZoom is quick and easy, it allows you to file most of your paperwork instantly, saves loads of valuable time and even has a money back guarantee! (What can you lose?)
