Wonderful for doggies and joggers. It's strangely disorienting (in a good way) looking down on the LA skyline!
Loses a star for being rather bleak; there are almost no trees. Go there on a hot day and there is literally NO shade. But it's big and close for downtowners.
It would be awesome if they had an off-leash "happy hour" or something. My greyhound needs a place to stretch his legs!

Living in a landscape like Los Angeles we can lose sight quickly of our surroundings let alone our piece of mind. In the middle of it all there is refuge and in this case it LASHP. When you see it it may not seem like much but this Park holds a rich history that makes up for it's simplicity. It represents so much of the diversity that is the city and provides an opportunity to take a break from from the chaos in your day to day. On a clear day, after rain and the breezes, you get a nice panorama of the city. Mountains North, Downtown South, China Town West and Lincoln Heights East. The River, Elysian Park, Dodger Stadium and the 101 Freeway surround this place but when your there, you'll forget all about it. This place is so under rated.

A jogger's delight in the middle of train tracks and industrial buildings. Evening runs provide spectacular views of downtown LA's skyline as the buildings cast their shadows atop one another.
It's roughly a mile to go around the perimeter of the park, which has been flattened out nicely into a running/walking trail. There are a few uneven spots where water pools and creates mini mud pits.
On weekends there are families playing on the grassy portion closest to Chinatown Station. Some fake hills provide what look like super comfy resting spots. There are also picnic tables available, if you're into that type of thing.
As you run along the western edge of the park there is a constant breeze to cool you off. The gold line trains also whiz by every so often. You can't forget you're in the middle of the city, but it's incredible that this gem is hiding among all the warehouses, overpasses and train tracks.
Remember, joggers: The Gold Line trains pass by every 10 minutes or so -- make sure you look like hot shit for all the passengers whizzing by cuz they'll be checkin' you out :)

The new park is a absolute GEM!
I went there today and rode my bike for over 2 hours, the landscapers were finishing up installation of all the sprinklers, the grass is as green as can be, and the atmosphere is mellow. I really like this park, it is MUCH better than the Cornfield was...internal walking trails, a perimeter trail, and lots of space.
Check it out if you get a chance, it's footsteps from the Chinatown Metro station as well...so convenient.
Thanks LA Parks and Recreation, this project is a winner!

This 32 acre park just north of Downtown LA was the site of an art project cornfield, and is now a park in flux. Home to the only remaining piece of the original Los Angeles Aqueduct and the former home to the original Union Station, roundhouse, and a hotel, it is now a field, with some benches a path or two and lots of lovely grass.
Not a bad place for a picnic or a lounge when on the east side, its marred only by the surrounding junk, and the gold line that runs just up one side of the park.
Neat hidden historic park.

This park is great for downtown! It is very expansive, you feel very isolated but have a view of the skyline! It is great for bringing the doggie for a walk around the track and a romp through the grass. We went today and it was amazing since all the rain, how green and lush the field was. There were tons of wild flowers and tall green brush that was beautiful! Bridget did great sticking with us. There is a leash requirement, although since there were no other dogs and very few people, we let her run. And run she did! oh my goodness the cutest Bulldog with the biggest grin running down that path! We enjoy spending time at local spots and encourage everyone who lives downtown to check out this great park with tons of grass. There are always guys working on the grounds. There are outhouses, water fountains and tons of parking, FREE! There are picnic benches and even a telescope up at the top where you can get a close up view of the skyline.Go check it out and thank you CA. I'd give it 5 stars if it had doggie bags, but we always bring our own and have never stumbled upon any being left behind! Here is a working link: http://www.parks.ca.go...
